I am particularly interested in understanding how the spatial variability of the seascape affects the way ecosystems function and can be managed. I enjoy working with a wide range of collaborators and using diverse statistical and modeling tools to help solve pressing problems and produce robust, targeted, timely and useful tools.
I have a comprehensive education in marine biology and five years of postdoctoral experience, spanning four continents in all. After my bachelor and master degree at the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Venezuela and a PhD degree at the University of Exeter in England, I have also worked as a researcher in Australia (University of Queensland) and the USA (Smithsonian Institution).
